This nine-story mixed-use, mixed-income, new-construction development consists of 244 apartments (including 47 affordable units), a 424-car garage, and over 14,200 square feet of retail space along Rhett Street in downtown Greenville, approximately two blocks from Fluor Field.

Greenville Housing Fund supported the developer’s use of the Multicounty Industrial Park designation, which provides the project a special-source revenue credit and tax abatement to enable 20% of units to be offered at affordable rental rates, well below the skyrocketing market rental rates in Greenville’s expensive downtown.

The project is named after Dr. E.E. McClaren, an African-American doctor who created a nine-bed hospital for his community during the days of segregation. The historic hospital building is being moved closer to Academy Street, creating a quarter-acre public promenade and bringing the structure into prominent view; it will be converted into a museum and welcome center for the City of Greenville.
