Amber joined the team in July 2024 as the Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement. In her role she leads GHF’s policy priorities advocating for the creation and preservation of affordable housing at the local, county and state level. Additionally, she manages the Greenville Affordable Housing Coalition, a multi-stakeholder group addressing the need for affordable housing in Greenville.
Prior, she served as Program Director at the statewide organization, the SC Association for Community Economic Development, striving to improve the quality of life for low-wealth families and communities by advancing community economic development and public policy in South Carolina. During her tenure, she oversaw six programs and supported the organization’s policy initiatives to include the reauthorization of the Community Development Tax Credit, advancing SC Housing’s Housing Trust Fund program, and supporting legislation for consumer loan products.
Amber completed her undergraduate at Missouri State University and received her Master of Social Work, specializing in Social, Community, Economic Development from the University of South Carolina. She is a certified Housing Development Finance Professional through Grow America. She completed Francis Marion University’s Fred R. Sheheen Non-Profit Leadership Institute and Leadership Discovery through Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.
In her spare time, Amber enjoys accessing all the great outdoor activities South Carolina has to offer from the Lowcountry beaches to hiking in the Upstate. She is also an active volunteer with her parish.
