After this weekend, a new development code for the city of Greenville becomes a new standard for growth and construction.
Honestly, most times new development codes don’t get a lot of attention, but this Code is different because of the amount of time and thought that went into it. This is a code that will take Greenville to 2040 and beyond, and most importantly has an amazing emphasis on affordable housing.
Some highlights:
— At least 10 % of all new housing in Greenville income restricted in order to preserve more affordable housing.
— Protects existing neighborhoods from incompatible development.
— Provides more recreation and open space, which will attracted more housing options.
— Incentivizes new housing options.
The Greenville Housing Fund thanks the City for its hard work on this.
