HUD Pro Housing Grant 2025-2030

Notice of Public Meeting and Comment Period

An in-person Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 5:30 pm at McPherson Park Log Cabin 100 E. Park Avenue.

The City of Greenville is applying for the US Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Pro Housing Grant (FR-6800-N-98) for funding period (2025-2030) to address barriers to the production and preservation of affordable housing. The City of Greenville will partner with the Greenville Housing Fund (GHF) as a subrecipient. This grant application process allows the public to comment and provide input on the proposed activities and projects.

The Building a Better Tomorrow: Greenville’s Path to Housing Affordability project activities include the construction of three new affordable housing developments proximate to Unity Park in downtown Greenville: Villas at Southernside, Townhomes at Trescott, and Southernside West, a senior-restricted affordable housing development. The grant will also support invaluable renovations to existing affordable housing properties in the City: Century Plaza, Parkins Ridge, and Reedy Place, a Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) property, in Greenville. Additionally, the grant will also support the establishment of the Greenville Community Home Trust (GCHT), which will provide single-family homeownership opportunities and down payment assistance. Portions of the grant funds will allow for the hiring of a research consultant to update the data set of the Communitywide Strategic Plan published in 2020, providing clear data on where Greenville is in its housing affordability mission and identify opportunities for growth.  Lastly, this grant will support several educational events and annual roundtables for community members, elected officials, and developers to learn more about Greenville’s affordable housing tools, incentives, and benefits.

A draft of the City of Greenville’s HUD Pro Housing Grant application is available for review and comment beginning on September 26, 2024 at City Hall, 206 South Main St. Greenville, SC 29601, or online at: http://www.greenvillesc.gov/265/Community-Development.  Printed copies are also available upon request.
