GREENVILLE, SC – Community leaders gathered Thursday morning to welcome 90 new affordable homes in the Southpointe Senior Residences community.
Located off of the Woodruff Road corridor, Southpointe Senior Residences features one and two-bedroom apartments all reserved for low- and moderate-income renters over age 55. Greenville Housing Fund and Lowcountry Housing Communities collaborated on the project.
“Our partner in this development, Lowcountry Housing Communities, is a new entrant to the Greenville market but brings over two decades of experience in the Southeast,” said Deborah McKetty, interim CEO of the Greenville Housing Fund.
Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) were used to help fund the development. In addition, Greenville County Redevelopment Authority and The Greenville Housing Authority also helped make this affordable housing project a reality through their investment into the project. The project will include 20 project-based vouchers through an award from The Greenville Housing Authority.
Southpointe Senior has been designed for comfort and connection, and is expected to become a vibrant, welcoming community for seniors. The beautiful three-story residential building is set amid lush landscaping and ample parking.
Residents will enjoy a lifestyle enhanced by modern finishes and beneficial amenities, including a business center equipped with computers, a flexible and dynamically programmed community room, a well-equipped exercise facility, and off-street parking. It is located near a variety of essential services and amenities, with easy
access to shopping and a Greenlink Transit connection.
“Our apartment community will provide much needed affordable housing for the senior citizens of Greenville,” said Max Elbe, a Principal with Lowcountry Housing Communities. “This deal would not have come to fruition without our partnership with the Greenville Housing Fund, South Carolina Housing and the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority. I am truly appreciative of our partners.”
